Shady Hollow is a Texas subdivision that offers stunning amenities, lovely homes, clean streets, and much more. One of the biggest strengths of this community, which has been in development since 1981, though, is the decidedly “small-town feel” it has. Here, neighbors really know and care about each other. Many take part in the active neighborhood association, attend community activities and take part in fun events together. This not only makes families feel safe -- parents tend to know one another and each other's children -- but it also build a real sense of community that makes living here extremely pleasant.
Along the tree-lined streets of Shady Hollow, you will find great schools, plenty of friendly neighbors, and amenities that belong in a much bigger community. Here, there is a neighborhood swim team that most young residents take part in, Boy and Girl Scout activities, and much more. In fact, you can read all about it in the newspaper of the homeowners association, the Shady Hollow Highlights. This little newsletter keeps everyone involved and aware of what is happening around them.
Shady Hollow is ideally situated in the southern part of Travis County. Bordered by Brodie Lane, El Dorado, Squirrel Hollow, Doe Run, and Lost Oasis Hollow, Shady Hollow is surrounded by natural beauty. As the names of these bordering areas suggest, Shady Hollow is located in a naturally pristine area, where plenty of trees, wildlife, and plants can still be seen. At the same time, though, Shady Hollow is within easy reach of Austin's downtown area, as well as all the major employers, schools, and amenities of the big city.
One thing that tends to draw a lot of homeowners to the area, though, is excellent education. The local high school, Bowie, is a blue ribbon school. However, all the schools, including the new Baranoff Elementary School, and Bailey Middle School, offer excellent academic programs, dedicated faculty, solid college separation, and a wealth of extracurricular opportunities. Shady Hollow is a place for students can really fulfill their potential.
Homeowners delight in Shady Hollow because of the beautiful homes available in the area. Older homes in this community are on large lots of 125 feet by 175 feet or even lots of 205 feet by 202 feet. Some homes have lots 60 feet by 125 feet in size. Homes here tend to be roomy. Many have three or four bedrooms, although some homes have five bedrooms. Many Shady Hollow homes have two to three bathrooms. In addition, most homes have at least two living areas, although some have four living areas. Amenities such as skylights, his and hers walk-in closets, and baths with cultured marble are common here. Most houses have kitchens with Formica or tile. Previously owned homes are available, although new construction properties are also still being built in the area. Homeowners actually have a wealth of choices to choose from, so they can choose homes that will really feel like a haven for them.
